Klibon tracks the clicks, attributes the payments and writes the commissions. You keep your payment processor. You pay your affiliates yourself , or on Growth and Scale Klibon pays them for you through Stripe . Setup is one script tag and one webhook.

How tracking works

Five steps, from the link an affiliate shares to the line on their statement.

  1. The link. Each affiliate gets https://go.klibon.com/r/<slug>. Klibon records the click and redirects to your page with ?via=<code> appended.
  2. The cookie. The tracking script on your site reads via, stores it in a first-party _klb cookie for the length of your cookie window, and takes the parameter back out of the address bar.
  3. The checkout. The code travels with the payment. On a Stripe Payment Link or a Polar checkout link the script attaches it for you; on a Paddle button it fills in the custom data. Anywhere else your page reads it with window.Klibon.referral() and sends it with the checkout request, and your server passes it along.
  4. The webhook. Your processor tells Klibon the money moved — Stripe, Creem, Polar or Paddle. Selling somewhere else entirely? Post the same facts to the conversions API yourself.
  5. The commission. Klibon matches the payment to the referral and writes a commission. It stays pending until your refund window closes, then it is approved and lands on that affiliate's next statement.

Attribution is last click wins: a visitor who clicks a second affiliate's link before buying is credited to the second one. Once a customer has been attributed, their renewals follow the same referral — they are matched by customer id, not by the cookie, so they keep paying out long after the cookie is gone.

A sale can also be credited by coupon code: assign a code from your processor to an affiliate, and a payment that uses it is theirs even when nobody clicked. See Coupon codes.

Setting up a program

  1. Set your terms. Percentage or flat, one-time or recurring, the cookie window and the refund window. The refund window is how long a commission stays pending.
  2. Paste the script on your site. One tag, on every page a tracked link can land on.
  3. Connect a processor. Stripe is a webhook endpoint you create in your own dashboard; anything else goes through the conversions API.
  4. Approve your affiliates. Each approved affiliate gets a code and a link. Test the whole chain first with a test affiliate — a test-mode payment never pays a real one.

What a commission goes through

  • Pending. Written the moment an attributed payment arrives, with an approval date of now + your refund window.
  • Approved. A scheduled job promotes it once that date passes. Commissions flagged as a suspected self-referral are deliberately skipped: you decide, not a timer.
  • Reversed. A refund cuts the commission down in proportion to the amount refunded. If it had already been paid out, the reversal appears instead as a negative line on the next statement.

Cookies and consent

_klb is a first-party cookie, set on your domain by code running in your page. That makes you its controller: declare it in your own cookie notice, and collect consent where your jurisdiction requires it. Klibon documents what the cookie contains and how long it lives — see Install the script and our privacy policy — but does not decide that question for you.
