Your own tracking domain

Affiliate links run on go.klibon.com by default, which works perfectly well. On Growth and Scale you can put them on a domain of your own instead.

What changes

before
https://go.klibon.com/r/a1b2c3
after
https://go.yourproduct.com/r/a1b2c3

Nothing else. The same redirect, the same cookie on your own site, the same commissions. What you gain is that the link your affiliates share carries your name rather than ours, which matters more than it sounds like it should when the audience is deciding whether to click.

Setting it up

  1. Pick a subdomain you are not using for anything else. go.yourproduct.com is the usual choice.
  2. On your program's Setup page, enter it under Tracking domain.
  3. Add this record with your DNS provider:
    dns
    CNAME go.yourproduct.com → go.klibon.com
  4. Press Check again. Once the name resolves to us, the certificate issues by itself — usually within a few minutes, occasionally a couple of hours.

There is no separate verification step. Pointing the CNAME at us is the proof: no certificate can issue for a name you do not control.

Two things to watch

Do not proxy it

If your DNS provider offers a proxy or "orange cloud" on that record, turn it off. The certificate is issued against a name that reaches us directly, and a proxy in between stops that happening.

Links already in the wild

Links your affiliates already have keep working: they were minted on go.klibon.com, and that domain is not going anywhere. New links use your domain from the moment it starts serving. If you later remove your domain, links built on it stop resolving — so removing one is a decision about the links already published, not just about the ones to come.

What the domain serves

Three paths and nothing else: the redirect, the tracking script, and the install beacon. Anything else on that hostname is answered with a 404 or sent to klibon.com. Your domain never serves a Klibon dashboard, a marketplace page, or anything a visitor could mistake for a site of yours that you did not write.
